The Role Of Promotion in the Marketing Mix

Fed ex realizes as most large companies do that promotion is a very big part of selling products. Fed ex offices offers its employees on certain products or "products of the month" a cash back reward. As for the month of November Every 8 giga byte flash drive a Fed ex office employee sells he or she will get an 1 dollar on their pay check at the end of the month. This is a great idea because when employes feel like their getting rewarded they will push the product even more. The employee will try to promote the product more for their own personal benefit. Not only does the employee gain but the whole company gains as a whole.  Fed ex office also now implements a rule that at the end of every customer interaction or transaction the employee must offer the product of the month.

Fed ex office also focuses on promoting the Pack and Ship. Fed ex says that pack and ship is 98 % profit. If any customer comes to Fed ex office with out their package packed and ready to ship Fed ex employees will package the customers shipment for an extra charge on top of the shipment fee. Fed ex office also highly promotes this because of the high Profit margin on "Pack and Ship". Fed ex employees are supposed to always assume the Pack and Ship. Fed ex does alot of promoting and advertising through ads and commercials but also alot through employee's


Fed ex had many printing Promotions before the school year started and always has many different promotions goin on year round. Employee's do get cash back on pushing these products as well. Some of these item consist of Posters, Indoor and Outdoor banners, window decals, and many oversize prints. They also have quantity discount available on postcards , brochures and booklets.
